About

Driftwood often goes ignored. It shows up unannounced and uninvited. But each piece has a past. Each has its own story, its own unknown origin, only to drift serendipitously into the path of an artist, who crafts it into something beautiful.

These individual artifacts form a mosaic of journeys and together tell a singular story of their own.

Even as you read this, the final missing piece of the next work is mid-journey, slowly drifting towards the watchful eye of the craftsman. Whether the forces that guide its path are powered by fate or randomness is up to you. It’s your story now.

Captain Tom is a licensed merchant marine living between Long Beach Island and Chelsea, NYC.  He began his journey as an artist after super storm Sandy left the beaches near his home on Long Beach Island full of driftwood washed in from the storm.
